Good stuff, Ben. I used to have a SEVERE drinking problem (last time I drank I ended up on a ventilator) so I can definitely relate to the recovery part.

Love these essays. I don’t know about anorexia - it doesn’t get much attention in men - but I do know about alcoholism. For me it was never about the friends, the taste, the social interaction or the conviviality. It was always about getting drunk! As the alcoholic drinks more he becomes more isolated. So I’m glad to see that other men are able to use alcohol to better their lives and recover from something perhaps worse.
